APOCALYPSE - Biography
Apocalypse was founded in November 2015 by some friends in the suburbs of Turin, Italy, with the intention to play Power Metal oriented music influenced by Nightwish.
The project turned out to be a complete failure, and the then lead guitarist, leader and songwriter Erymanthon had a lot of problems with members that just did not take the band as seriously as he wanted, and the band never had a complete lineup for more that a few weeks. After many line up changes and a few rehearsals, Erymanthon split up the band in late summer in 2017.
In early 2018, after discovering Bathory, Erymanthon started Apocalypse again as a project heavily influenced by them, also as a tribute to the mastermind Quorthon.
Apocalypse's debut album Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum was written and recorded between February and October 2018, and released on the band's official YouTube channel on the 23 of December the same year.
On the 3rd of June the following year, Apocalypse released To Hall Up High - In Memory Of Quorthon, a 7 track long Bathory tribute album, in occasion of the 15th anniversary of Quorthon's passing. In November of the same year, Apocalypse released Odes, which featured a darker atmosphere and a more majestic sound than the precedent work.
In May 2020, Apocalypse released Collapse, a very different album whose sound was more oriented to Death Metal. On the same year, all Apocalypse albums became available on Bandcamp, and Apocalypse teamed up with Earth And Sky Productions. The new album Pedemontium was published on January 21st, 2021.
In late 2022, the band announced collaboration with the Swedish label MiMo Sound Records. Together, they remastered their whole APOCALYPSE discography at MiMo Sound Studio, the same studio where Quorthon worked with BATHORY in their last years.
In 2023 it was announced that the drummer Doublemme had joined the project in the studio to record the drums on the new albums. The new album Retaliation was released in June, 2023. In September on the same year, the band played their first ever live show, changing their mind from the previous decision to never present their music on a live stage. Erymanthon and Doublemme were joined by session live members Kavouras on keyboards and Hyperion on bass guitar.
